We really did learn a lot more about Eli and Caly and all the horrible things the queen made them do in book one. Mendax is still a bit of a mystery ( and I’m okay with that), but when I say this man is a villain, I MEAN IT! (He skinned a man and wrapped him in a cocoon of his own skin and literally scarred Eli's entire body. The man feels the need to murder anyone and everyone!)

I loved the fact that we got to see inside the Seelie realm. When I was a kid, fairies lived in the garden and looked like woodland creatures derived from earth and magic, who brought nothing but joy and beauty. This story brought the mystical, woodsy fairies back to life in my mind but with a fun grown-up twist where everything isn’t sunshine and

Now we can discuss the spice.. Because shadow daddy Mendax was fucking giving in book two. The throne room was HOTTTTTT!!!! Then the bedroom scene with all three of them!? OMG, Please, that was fantastic. The angst and longing.. WHEW!!!!

I think this was a great second book where there was so much more character building. I'm so happy I continued their story. The real question though is Eli or Mendax? Who will it be?

Quotes

Love made you stupid. No one would ever understand that more than me.
Mendax is rolling over in his grave with a stiff dick somewhere right now.
I would never require her to hold the same attachments as myself because it is an impossible feat. I am possessed with a cruel and bloody love that collapses and suffocates, squeezes and rips until scars and bruises are the only traces left. She is the noose that hangs me, the rope that strangles and chokes at my soul, and no one—not her or anyone—could ever be left as breathless as I am.
